Our Mission

GIVE-Youth is a nonprofit organization that serves as a platform that cultivates interest and passion for service and connects young individuals with targeted community service projects.

Our Founding Story

GIVE-Youth, founded by Jianna Kim, is the result of her lifelong commitment to serving individuals with disabilities, deeply rooted in a three-generation legacy of service from her grandparents and parents. Growing up witnessing her family’s dedication, Jianna was inspired to begin her volunteer journey at a young age. However, it was her proactive efforts that truly shaped the mission and vision of GIVE-Youth.

In 2015, Jianna began volunteering at the Intellectual Disability Camp at Yuong Sang Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania. For five consecutive years, she actively engaged with campers, learning firsthand about the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and understanding their unique needs. This experience laid the foundation for her belief in the importance of creating inclusive spaces where individuals with disabilities can thrive and feel a sense of belonging.

By 2019, Jianna deepened her involvement by joining the Montgomery County Special Olympics Track & Field/Long Distance Running team. This was more than just a volunteer opportunity—it became a way for her to continue her grandparents’ and parents’ legacy of service while pursuing her own passion for the cause. When Jianna joined the track and field team at Germantown Academy in 8th grade, she not only developed her athletic skills but also strengthened her ability to advocate for Special Olympics athletes and foster connections between her school community and the athletes.

As Jianna gained more insight into the gaps in youth volunteer opportunities, she envisioned creating a platform where young people could take the lead in service. This vision led to the creation of GIVE-Youth, a nonprofit organization that empowers youth across regions and countries to engage in community service and leadership. GIVE-Youth represents a new chapter where young people are encouraged to carve their own path and make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Jianna serves in multiple roles within GIVE-Youth, including as software director and editor of the organization’s website, ensuring that the platform continues to evolve with the needs of its members and the communities they serve. The success of GIVE-Youth lies in the shared vision of its members to make service accessible and impactful.

Inspired by the success of GIVE-Youth, Jianna co-founded the Grace Chamber Music Youth Club with her friend Minah Cho. This club brings live music performances to children with special needs and participants in Special Olympics events, reflecting Jianna’s belief in the transformative power of music. By integrating musicians with disabilities and professional performers, the club emphasizes creativity and inclusion, showing that music can heal, connect, and empower individuals.

Jianna’s story is a testament to the powerful combination of a three-generation legacy of service and personal initiative. Through GIVE-Youth and Grace Chamber Music Youth Club, she continues to foster a culture of inclusion, empathy, and leadership—encouraging young people to serve their communities while leading with creativity and purpose.
